Meet the Author

R. Grayson is a versatile writer, editor, and proofreader passionate about creating cathartic, character-driven narratives. Her written work explores themes of love, identity, and the battle between good and evil within the drama, romance, and thriller genres. She also dabbles in poetry and non-fiction, tackling topics surrounding life, death, grief, and personal growth. Above all, R. Grayson thrives on collaborating with other creatives to help stories, messages, and ideas come to life.

She solidified her identity as an author and poet with the publication of her college essay “Shatterproof” in her high school literary journal at the age of 17. Since then, she has been a go-to resource for line editing and proofreading for her peers, family, and friends.

With years of experience in writing, worldbuilding, and daydreaming, R. Grayson has her eyes set on new heights with the creation of Shielding Elodie, a standalone romantic suspense novel featured in the upcoming Silverton Search & Rescue series, as well as The Machinist, a thrilling fantasy drama and the first installment of the Machine & Magic trilogy.

Behind the (Upcoming) Stories

R. Grayson strives to expand her horizons beyond traditional writing norms. While suspense, romance, and fantasy are her bread and butter, she enjoys testing the limits of both genre and literary genre. From poetic memoirs to contemporary romantic suspense novels and nonfiction to psychological thrillers, you can expect a wide range of works from R. Grayson, as she thinks sticking to a single genre is “silly.”

“When literary genre and content genre synergize, the narrative possibilities are endless. Why would I limit myself to one or two when I can explore any story imaginable? It just feels silly to me.”

Shielding Elodie

After a devastating breakup, Elodie Lodewick sets her eyes on one thing: reinvention. She is determined to start anew, trading her chaotic New York City lifestyle for the sleepy mountain town of Silverton, Colorado, and her plans are simple: work remote, rediscover herself, spend time in nature—but most importantly—swear off men. That is, until a home invasion shatters her hopes and sense of security as a mysterious stalker begins to hunt her.

In her darkest hour, Elodie turns to Sam “Keen” Beckett, a Park Ranger and former Army Operative with a keen intuition for nature—and people. Keen’s kindness, patience, and unwavering determination challenges Elodie’s resolve to remain single as they work together to rebuild her life.

Elodie is placed in an impossible position when the threats begin to escalate. Going back to New York is not an option, but she doesn’t want to drag Keen into or burden him with her problems. She must keep her friends close and her stalker at bay by confronting her fears and her past head-on in the hopes of identifying her stalker and reclaiming her life, before it’s too late.

Shielding Elodie is a standalone romantic suspense novel within the Silverton Search & Rescue universe that explores themes of trust, courage, and love.

The Machinist

By day, Valo Korhonen is the definition of an average man—a no name peasant running a no name pub in Asherok’s capital city. By night, he is anything but average. He is The Machinist, a famed, anonymous inventor revolutionizing technology as the world knows it. Or, at least, he was anonymous.

Valo knows the Asherokan monarch, Queen Baelowyn Ashbourne, is searching for The Machinist, but the last thing he expects is to be found, much less caught. When Valo is confronted with irrefutable evidence exposing him as The Machinist, Queen Ashbourne offers him a simple but grim ultimatum: help with the kingdom’s ongoing war effort against their magically-adept adversary, Indemnia, or else.

Caught in a tug-of-war between right and wrong, truth and lies, and life and death, can Valo find a way to reclaim his freedom without losing himself in the process?

The Machinist is a fantasy drama featuring a racially diverse cast that explores themes of identity, freedom, and morality. It is the first in the Machine & Magic series, to be followed by The Arcanist and The Artificer.
